Dress It Up

So this past August we celebrated our daughter's 4th birthday. Well, one of the presents she received was a little girl's jewelry box. It was a darling gift and very cute. However, and I hope the giver won't be too mad at me, it was a bit outdated and I thought that I could dress it up a bit and give it a more updated look. Here is what I did just using some sand paper, Mod Podge, and patterned paper from Crate Paper's Paper Doll collection.

 The Original Jewelry Box.

The jewelery box had a varnish finish on it, so I needed to sand it down to help the Mod Podge and paper adhere better.

Once I had measured all sides of the box and cut my papers to size, it was time to lay down the Mod Podge. First apply a thin layer, lay down your paper, clear out any air bubbles and then apply another thin coat of Mod Podge on top.

To help me cut the paper to size for my mirror top, I used the clear plastic packaging from my chipboard pieces to trace with a slick writer and make myself a template for my patterned paper.

After all the papers were in place, I marked the center of my drawers and then hot glued my drawer pulls on. I used tapestry beads topped with a gem for my drawer pulls.

Next apply your chipboard pieces and I also added a string of pearl trim.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope I was able to give someone else a great idea to treat their little girl to!
